Pink : 'I took heroin'
Posted By Jc on March 24, 2006
Pop punk Pink took heroin when she was a teenager, but she turned her back on the opiate aged just 16 as she focused on succeeding as a singer. The Just Like A Pill hitmaker has witnessed the devastation the narcotic can cause with her own eyes - three of her close friends have died after overdosing.

She says, "Heroin is a horrible thing. I've seen first hand what it can do to people and it's not pretty. I was never that much into it to need treatment. "But you name it, I took it. I buried three friends from heroin overdoses. I just stopped one day on Thanksgiving 1995 and never touched them again."

And the 26-year-old insists she only dabbled in drugs to alleviate the boredom of her early adolescence in Pennsylvania. She continues, "For me drugs were just a distraction on the way to my ultimate goal, which is what I'm doing today. I found my chance and I wanted to go for it and knew I was going to have to work for it.

"Boredom is a big cause of a lot of problems for a lot of people. I was performing so I wasn't bored any more. I had something to do."

Pink Loves Cultural Europe
Posted By Jc on March 24, 2006
US pop star PINK is considering moving to Europe, because the continent oozes the culture Hollywood lacks. The Pennsylvania-born singer/songwriter, 26, has fallen so head-over-heels in love with France, she is eyeing a move to its chic capital Paris. The JUST LIKE A PILL hitmaker says, "Everyone I've met is so nice and really cool. I would definitely move to Europe. "I love France - Paris and the south of France. "There's not a lot of culture or individuality in Hollywood."

Pink: The outspoken pop star on fame and growing up
Posted By Jc on March 24, 2006
Think Pink - if you think about her at all - and you might think about the feisty young pop star with the kick-ass attitude (well, she swears a lot) and tattoos to match. The gurning glamourpuss with the bra top and platinum-blonde quiff who was meant to snog Madonna at the MTV Awards but couldn't make it, so Britney Spears stepped in. The vaguely punky rocker who's sold 23 million albums and won two Grammies. The wayward kid from Philadelphia who got on mum's pip so much that first she sent her to a therapist, then kicked her out of the house, aged 15. Who was rescued from a runaway teenage life by signing a record deal when she was 16. Who, in Costa Rica early this year, married her boyfriend, a handsome but wild-looking motocross biker named Carey Hart.

Pink relishes 'Stupid Girls' criticism
Posted By Jc on March 4, 2006
Outspoken pop star Pink is thrilled her socialite parody music video Stupid Girls has attracted such a barrage of criticism, because she intended it to be seen as a challenge.

The 26-year-old singer has been blasted for the track's promo video and lyrics, which poke fun at Hollywood stars including Lindsay Lohan and Jessica Simpson.

She tells MTV.com: "I love the discussion that's going on right now. There's always a backlash when you challenge people's convictions and their heroes.

"But I don't do all this so I can be in Us Weekly every week. I don't do this so that people think I'm cool. "I never said I was perfect, and I never said anybody else doesn't have permission to make fun of me for what I do. I'm a walking contradiction. I'm a hypocrite sometimes. I'm a work in progress.

"But I'm working to be better. I'm seeking out smart people and responsible women, and I'm standing up for animals. I'm not making fun of a certain person, I'm making fun of an idea, and I think they're missing the point. Sexy doesn't have to come with the price tag of being dumb."

Pink wears Hart on her sleeve
Posted By Jc on March 4, 2006
Poppy punkster Pink doesn't seem like the most likely clotheshorse, especially after her Stupid Girls vid which pokes fun at shallow vain stick thin types.

But we've heard that on her summer tour she'll be modelling clobber designed by her new hubby, Carey Hart. Come to think of it, the motocross champ wouldn't be first on our list of likely clothes designers. But there you go - a couple full of surprises.

Hart does keep his designer brand as macho as possible, calling it the very manly Hart & Huntington Tattoo Co Premium Line.
